Complimentary or alternative medicine is a term used these days for medical products and practices that are not part of standard medical care. Standard care is practiced by medical doctors, osteopathy doctor and allied health professionals such as nurses and therapists, practice.

Alternative medicine is practicing medicine that is not standard- medicine complement nary treatments include acupuncture, chiropractics and herbal medicine. Alternative medicine is part of conventional medicine it is a group of diverse medical and health care practices. Alternate medicine is used in the place of conventional medicine.

It uses a special diet to treat cancer instead of undergoing surgery, radiation or chemotherapy that has been recommended. There are other whole medical system that involves complete theory and practice that have evolved parallel to allopathic medicine. Many are traditional systems of medicine that are practiced by different cultures –major eastern medicines.

It believes in the concept that disease results from the imbalance in the qi and chi in one’s body .meditation massage, and acupuncture are practiced to aid the healing and restoring of the yin and yang balance.
Ayurvedic medicine that originated in India is one of the traditional medicines. Ayurveda is the science of life.

Ayurvedic texts say that the sages who found meditation and yoga developed the foundation for this system.
Naturopathy- as a system views disease as a manifestation of alterations in the processes by which the body heals by itself. It includes diet modification and nutritional supplements. ‘Homeopathy- is a sys tem and practice founded by German physician Samuel Christian Hahnemann. Whole medical systems differ in their philosophical approaches to the prevention and treatment of disease. These systems believe that the body has the power to heal one’s self.
